Bethesda Child Support Agency (Bethesda), is a non-profit organization established in 2001 by Mrs. Nkoyo Rapu. The primary focus of Bethesda is to mobilize efforts of government, private sector and other development agencies towards securing educational opportunities for children in poor communities.
Since its inception, Bethesda through the assistance of partners and sponsors has spearheaded efforts to provide free quality education, school supplies, nutrition, and healthcare to over 3,000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Lagos and Ogun States.
Our programs include a scholarship scheme for school-age children, community service, mentoring opportunities, and establishment of educational institutions termed Schools-In-Poor- Communities. We currently have four (4) tuition-free schools catering to the educational needs of underprivileged children Ikota (Lagos), Bariga (Lagos), Ijaiye-Ojokoro (Lagos) and Matogun (Ogun) communities.
A huge percentage of our donations have come from generous individuals who have believed in the project. The generosity and regularity of funding of these generous individuals has gone a long way to sustain this program over the years. We have also benefitted from the support of organizations and institutions that have partnered with us. Some of them include: First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Google Nigeria, Citibank Nigeria, LEGO Education, Standard Chartered Bank, Meadowhall School, MTN Foundation, etc.
In 15 years of existence, we have been able to play a significant role in providing young people with the gift of opportunity which has changed their lives.
Notable among them are:
- Victory Alexander (graduate of Law, University of Calabar)
- Jackson Smith (graduate of Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University)
- Patience Unatta (graduate of Accountancy, University of Calabar)
- Thelma Mohammed (graduate of Political Science, Redeemer’s University)
- Kingsley Chaba (graduate of Business Management, Ibadan Polytechnic)
These were the founding children of our program.
